Rag Week - July 2017
Recently Christ’s College sixth form students hosted their annual Raising and Giving week where they put on a number of fun activities for the students in the lower years to take part in to help raise much needed funds for their two chosen charities for this year, Emerge and The Peterson’s Fund for Children. The previous record raised for RAG week was £1700, but after a hard but rewarding week, the current sixth formers along with some Year 11 students who planned to join our sixth form in September, smashed the record and managed to raise a staggering £3173.52. The week started off with the first fundraising event, which was a sponsored walk around Newland’s Corner. All sixth formers took part and the money raised gave them the funds to put on more events during the week to increase the total amount raised. These events included an ‘I’m a Celebrity’ show where the teachers had to eat some rather unpleasant foods in front of a student audience, ‘Splat the Teacher’, a mini fun fair and an inflatable army assault course. We also ran a tuck shop that every day. It was a great week where sixth formers, teachers and students worked together towards a common goal to raise as much money as we could for our two local charities Emerge and Peterson’s Fund for Children.
